At Hope, the Contract Program in Pre-Physical Therapy is a unique degree path for the Liberal Arts Major. This degree path prepares students for entry into graduate programs in Physical Therapy. Because professional schools vary considerably on prerequisite coursework, some physical therapy graduate school preparation courses in the program can be modified so that students may pursue a more targeted preparation and better position themselves to apply to the school(s) of their choice. The Liberal Arts Major with a CSUF Contract Program in Pre-Physical Therapy is offered in conjunction with California State University, Fullerton, which is located right across the street from Hope. In this program, students take a blend of coursework from each university, resulting in a broad educational experience. All Contract Programs contain a Liberal Arts core curriculum that focuses on oral and written communication, leadership, critical thinking, and biblical studies.
Before taking courses at CSUF, prospective Contract Program students must complete a contract proposal and receive approval from the HIU Academic Contracts Committee. The approval process is contingent upon the completion of the following requirements: 1) the proposed course of study must meet the requirements outlined in the Contract Program Informational Packet; 2) students must have completed 60 units of college-level coursework; 3) students must be California residents or be able to establish California state residency, and 4) students must have a minimum GPA of 2.50.
The B.A. in Liberal Arts with a Contract Program in Pre-Physical Therapy is 141-143 units.
